The Teenage Wilderness Trust
Keeping Kids in Education since 2011...
The Teenage Wilderness Trust was founded by Matt Bailey in April 2011 and he is the current chair of the Board of Trustees. The board consists of three trustees all from very different backgrounds offering a diverse set of skills to the charity. All three are passionate about the cause of the charity and are constantly striving to make it as good as it can be. Please see below for a brief bio on each of the trustees.
Matt Bailey trained as a teacher at Brunel University in West London and has always had an interest in education. He went on to travel the world as a diving instructor and found success as an underwater photographer. He set up the Teenage Wilderness Trust in 2011 after spending some time volunteering with children who had lost their way with education at Path Hill Outdoors.
Matt works passionately for the charity, carrying out all administrative tasks and running fundraising events. He also spends time with the students documenting their progress through photo and video work.
Michael Benster is a lawyer qualified under both English and NewYork Law. He worked in private practice for some 25 years in both London and New York, specialising in cross-border transactions and infrastructure projects around the world. For the last few years, he has been General Counsel at one of the country's leading hotel brands. Michael is a superb sounding board for new ideas. He analyses situations from a fresh perspective and seeks out creative solutions to problems. He joined the board in 2012 and has proved himself to be a great asset to the charity.
Penny Lake has been a trustee of the charity for several years. Her background is in large scale events and corporate hospitality. She brings great value to all of our fundraising events especially the Wilderness Ball which she organises. Penny can look at issues from a business minded point of view.
